Portsmouth Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) opens in October 2026, in partnership between Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) and Alliance Medical (AML).
By bringing diagnostic services into the heart of the local community, the CDC will improve access to vital diagnostic services and support earlier diagnosis for local people.
Alliance Medical run the following diagnostic services from the CDC:
- MRI
- CT
- X-ray
- Ultrasound
Portsmouth Hospitals run the following services from the CDC building:
- Mammography
- Sleep study services
- Blood tests, also known as phlebotomy*
- Cardiology*
- Neurophysiology
- Lung function, also known as respiratory*
- Audiology
*These services will move to the CDC from 5 October 2026 from their previous base at St Mary's Community Health Campus.
Free parking is available on-site and we ask that people only use the spaces when attending an appointment.
Public transport
The no.12 bus by Stagecoach runs between Tipner and Fratton Way Tesco. The closest stop to the CDC is Fratton Way, which is 0.3 miles from the CDC and takes around six minutes to walk.
The no. 2 bus by First Bus runs between Gunwharf and Paulsgrove. The closest stop to the CDC is Velder Avenue. This is around 0.5 miles from the CDC and takes around ten minutes to walk.
Fratton Train Station is just under a mile away from the CDC and takes around 20 minutes.
