Choices College

We are delighted to partner with Choices College. It is incredibly important to us that we support members of the community and young people with learning difficulties and one way we can do this is by providing supported internships where they can learn new skills and thrive in a working environment.

Choices College is a Specialist Post-16 College providing a person-centred, individually tailored Supported Internship to young adults with learning difficulties, disabilities and/or Autism. Through the Internship, 16–24-year-olds gain work experience, develop independence skills and increase their employability and independence skills.

The service is bespoke, offering tailored support to each Intern, and employment opportunities are matched to the individual’s skills. Choices College aims to empower interns and build their confidence as individuals in the workplace, while also offering life experience beyond their home and school environments.

Young people will need to have an active Educational Health Care plan (EHCP) to apply. The project lasts for one academic year (September –July) and each intern will have up to three placements during the year within Portsmouth University Hospital NHS Trust. Each cohort is supported by the Project Choice Team, consisting of Job Coaches, Workplace Mentors, Project Coordinator and Area Manager.

How to apply:

You will need to complete an application form; recruitment usually takes place in February / March each year. You will be invited to a group day which will include an interview, so we can get to know more about you, what area you would be interested in working and what skills you have.
