Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act gives members of the public a general right of access to recorded information held by public authorities, including NHS organisations such as Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

Before logging an FOI request with us, please can we kindly ask that you check our disclosure log as you may find the information you are looking for already there.  If you are unable to locate the information you require please do send us a request.

What information can I request?

Any information recorded or held by the Trust at the time the request is received will be eligible for disclosure.

The Act does not allow public authorities to disclose personal or sensitive information about patients or staff. This information is protected by the Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulation.

How do I make a request?
Anyone can make a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act. Before submitting a formal request to us, please check to see if the information you are looking for is already available within our 'Disclosure log'.

Your request must be made in writing and include your name, an address for correspondence (this may be an email address) and a description of the information you are requesting.

How we respond to requests
Once we have received your written request you will be sent an acknowledgement letter/ email and we will begin processing your request.

In compliance with the Act, we will try to respond to your request within 20 working days.

There may be some circumstances where your request for information is refused under an exemption. For more information on exemptions please visit the Information Commissioner’s Office website.

Copies of every request we receive will be held on file for three years before being confidentially destroyed.
