The Macmillan Centre run two courses to help you cope with life after your cancer treatment. We plan to run three courses of each per year.

The courses are: HOPE (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively)

And LYLAC (Live Your Life After Cancer)

Please see the  individual sections for more details.

If you wish to attend these courses, please contact the Macmillan Centre on 02392 283324 or email on macmillan@porthosp.nhs.com

HOPE stands for Help Overcoming Problems Effectively.  It is a licensed programme that helps people who have had cancer to get on with their lives.  These Macmillan courses are free to attend and normally over two days with a follow up session within 3 months, in the Macmillan Centre. They are run by Macmillan trained HOPE facilitators who are either health or social care professionals, lay facilitators who have experience of supporting people affected by cancer, or volunteers who have had a cancer experience themselves.

The course focuses on rediscovering your inner strengths and resilience to help you cope emotionally, psychologically and practically.  There are between 6 to 12 people on each course and time is spent in facilitated discussions, group activities, information sharing and ideas for you to try between each session.

We aim to run the HOPE courses three times a year.

This one-day workshop is for people who have completed their cancer treatment and are looking for ways to regain zest for life and direction. This day has been developed by two women who have had cancer and are qualified life coaches. The day will be inspiring, motivating and fun.
