The pharmacy department provide medicines to our patients as well as providing information and advice to both patients and healthcare professionals.

During you stay in hospital you will likely be treated with one or more medicines. The pharmacy team manages the supply of these medicines, making sure that the medicines you receive are safe, effective and appropriate for you.

Coming into hospital

Please bring any of your medicines and a copy of your repeat prescription with you when you come into hospital. This will allow us to review your medicines and ensure that you receive your regular medicines correctly during your stay.

Going home

Any medicine you brought into hospital will be returned to you on discharge unless you it has been stopped during your admission. If you started any new medication, you will be given a supply to take home. We will explain your new medicine before you leave, but if you have any questions while here ask to speak to the pharmacy team.

Your GP will have been informed through your discharge summary about any changes to your medication and be able to prescribe more for you if needed.

If you have any queries – please ask – we are here to help.
