The Endoscopy Unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital is a seven-day service which provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to more than 15,000 patients a year.

The unit has two procedure suites on site, supporting inpatients, outpatients, emergency and tertiary referrals.

Procedures are carried out by medical or surgical consultants and nurse endoscopists. The team also include specialist nurses, research nurses, registered nurses and technicians who will help to assist the patients and the endoscopists with the procedure. The unit is also supported by an administration and decontamination team.

As a training centre, patients coming in for a procedure may be seen by a trainee endoscopist who will be under the close supervision of an experienced endoscopist.

Please check where your appointment is due to take place as there are multiple locations at the Queen Alexandra Hospital site where you may be invited to attend.
