As part of work that has been taking place on Nightingale Road over the past few months, where access has been reduced to a single lane, the contractor will need to fully close the road on Sunday 19 October between the two bus stops (between North Entrance and the old Emergency Department) between 8am and 5.30pm. This is so work that may cause noise disruption can take place when it is less likely to disrupt patients and staff.
There will also be further closures overnight from 11pm to 5.30am from Tuesday 22 October until Friday 24 October.
Due to this work and reduced flow, we wanted to share some updates that you may find useful:
- The Staff Park and Ride will continue to operate as normal including servicing the usual drop-off and pick-up points. As the Park and Ride does not run at weekends and overnight this additional work should not affect it.
- Staff on-site parking is not affected, but you may face delays when entering or leaving the site so please keep this in mind when travelling to or from work.
- Public parking – the public car parks remain open but visitors to site will not be able to access these through Southwick Hill Road.
- Access to the mortuary remains via Southwick Hill Road.
- Emergency vehicles will continue to enter through the East Gate for the Emergency Department and UPECC. Vehicles going to the discharge lounge will need to enter the site through Southampton Road and travel up Pasteur Road.
Please allow extra time for your journey to QA Hospital during this time as there is likely to be increased traffic.
Thank you for your understanding while this work takes place.
