We are seeing cases of norovirus, flu and other respiratory illnesses in our communities, so need your help to reduce the spread of infection in our hospitals by:
- Not visiting the hospital if you have symptoms of flu, norovirus or other respiratory infections.
- Reducing contact with others if you have symptoms
- Washing hands regularly with soap and water.
- Getting vaccinated
At QA Hospital, we are advising staff to use their professional judgment for wearing masks, particularly in admission areas and areas with respiratory cases. Patients presenting with upper respiratory illness may be asked to wear a mask by staff, to protect others. Masks will be made available at the doors and visitors are welcome to wear them across the entire site if they feel more comfortable.
If you think you have had flu or norovirus please:
- Stay home until you feel better to help prevent spreading illness
- Rest
- Take paracetamol or ibuprofen to lower your temperature and treat aches and pains
- Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated
- Keep warm.
For further help and medical advice, please contact your GP, pharmacist, or visit NHS 111 online or by phone if you aren’t sure which is the best service for your needs.
