The Urgent Treatment Centre at Gosport War Memorial Hospital has experience Practitioners every day to treat range minor injury and illnesses requiring urgent attention that is NOT critical or life threatening, and recommends that you contact 111 first for advice.

The UTC is not an alternative to your GP surgery. Please contact your surgery direct or NHS 111.

What we CAN see and treat:

  • RECENT minor injuries e.g. broken bones, sprains, wounds, cuts, bruises and burns. Eyes, minor head injuries
  • RECENT minor illnesses (NOT unwell) e.g. abdominal pain, fevers in adults and children over one year, skin infection and rashes, eyes, ear, nose and throat complaints, coughs and colds, allergic reactions

What we CANNOT see and treat:

  • Conditions likely to require hospital admission, blood tests, ultrasound scans or CTs - please contact 111 or in an emergency, 999
  • Repeat prescription requests or medication reviews, or long term (chronic) disease management
  • Mental health conditions, overdoses, alcohol related problems
  • Major injuries or unwell illness such as chest pain, breathing difficulties, severe abdominal pains, severe allergic reactions - please ring 111 or in an emergency, 999
  • Dental problems please contact your own dentist or ring 111 for emergency dentist details
  • Ear syringing - this is now no longer available under the NHS
  • Sexual health - please contact sexual health clinics

  • Opening hours: 8am to 10pm, seven days a week
  • X-ray facilities: 8.30am to 9pm, seven days a week

Our clinical assessment may identify that you do not need further treatment at the UTC - in this case the staff will redirect you accordingly.

Unless you attend for a pre-arranged appointment via 111, you will be seen in priority of clinical need.

NHS 111 is recommended as they may offer you an attendance time, this is not a booked appointment, but should save you time when arriving at the UTC.

You do not need to be registered with a GP or have a fixed address to use any urgent care services.

You do not need an appointment to visit the UTC, however it may be identified that you do not need further treatment at the UTC - in this case, the staff will redirect you accordingly.

You will be seen in priority of clinical need.

NHS 111 online can help if you are not sure what service you might need. If an urgent care service is not right for your problem, you will be offered alternative services.
