New car parking machines aimed at being simpler to use are being installed at Queen Alexandra Hospital.
Work to replace the existing machines will take place in stages and in only one area of the site at a time. While each parking zone is being updated, cash payments may not be available, and signage will be displayed on entry advising visitors to use one of our other zones if they wish to pay by cash. Visitors will still be able to pay using the RingGo app or automated line (020 3046 0010) using their card in all areas whilst work takes place.
When complete, the new machines will offer a more user-friendly experience including additional payment options including coins, notes, chip & PIN, and contactless as well as RingGo, which has been operating on the QA Hospital site since November 2024.
The pay and display area on Pasteur Road will be updated first. Parking on this road will only be payable via RingGo and for Blue Badge Holders while work takes place.
What will be different with the new machines?
Once the new machines are installed, patients and visitors using the multi-storey car parks will also be able to pay when they leave rather than on arrival.
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) will remain in place to ensure people only pay for the time spent in the hospital and aren’t worried about tickets expiring. If your vehicle registration number is not collected correctly on arrival, the new payment machines will allow you to update the system with the correct registration number and length of stay.
Visitors with a valid Blue Badge will be able to scan their pass on exit using the pay machines to validate their parking. Removing the need to visit the main reception during each attendance.
Nightingale Road will remain Blue Badge only so visitors can park up and display their badge without the need for an additional ticket.
All fees for parking will remain the same including concessions for those eligible and you can find out more about this here.
We hope patients and visitors will find these changes an improvement and thank you for your patience whilst work takes place.
