More than 300 people, including children and grateful patients, turned up to Staunton Country Park on Sunday 14 September, to raise money for Portsmouth Hospitals Charity.

The charity chose to change things up this year and held their first ever QA 5K Colour Dash, which gave the participants the chance to experience a vibrant and fun-filled run where they were showered with colourful powdered paint whilst running or walking a scenic 5K route through the country park.

The local community and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU) staff members alike came together in a spectacular burst of colour and energy this weekend and so far has raised over £12,000 for different departments and wards at PHU. The money raised will be used to enhance patient care, support staff welfare and advance medical research within the Trust.

Head of Portsmouth Hospitals Charity, Kate Sandys, added, “We are absolutely thrilled by the incredible turnout and enthusiasm for our very first 5K Colour Dash. Seeing our community come together, support one another, and have so much fun while raising funds for our local hospital has not only brought colour to our day but will also help to support wards and departments across Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. We can’t thank our community, volunteers, and sponsors enough for making this such a memorable and meaningful day – we couldn’t do it without you!”

Portsmouth Hospitals Charity extends a heartfelt thanks to all our participants, volunteers and supporters who helped make this event possible! Another thanks also goes out to our event sponsors, BTS and Southsea Castle Rotary Club who joined us on the day and helped make our participants as colourful as they were!

The team are already looking ahead to next year, and planning a Colour Dash with more colour, fun and camaraderie!
