Work Experience
Last updated: 01 November 2022
Work experience is a fantastic way to gain insight into a particular career. It can be a valuable way of gaining some confidence and experience of working within a hospital environment.
We recommend that you explore the NHS careers website before deciding which department you would like experience in. This will ensure that you are gaining the most for your work experience with Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
For more information regarding work experience, please email the team at workexperience@porthosp.nhs.uk or give us a call on 02392 286577.
For those wishing to apply for work experience/shadowing opportunities at PHU, please download and complete the application form at the bottom of the page and return to workexperience@porthosp.nhs.uk - the team will then try their best to find a suitable placement for the dates provided - however, please be aware that work experience at this time is limited and so we are unable to guarantee a placement. Please get in contact with us to discuss further.
Please note, there are some age restrictions in relation to work experience. Clinical placements will require students to be over the age of 16 (and this increases to 18 years in some areas). For those aged 14-16 years, only an admin/office placement can be considered.
