Date: 17 July 2023
As part of building works to develop a new Emergency Department at Queen Alexandra Hospital, we need to introduce temporary restrictions to access through the East Entrance of the hospital. These restrictions mean we will be able to safety install a bridge connecting the new Emergency Department to the main hospital.
These restrictions are planned to take place between 17 July 2023 and Friday 25 August 2023 and mean that while there will be limited pedestrian access, public vehicles will not be able to use it for drop-off or pick-up.
From Monday 17 July to Sunday 23 July:
From Monday 24 July to Friday 4 August:
From Monday 7 August to Friday 25 August:
If you are asked to attend the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU), Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU), Gynaecology Assessment Unit (GAU) or Maternity for an urgent assessment from Monday 24 July to Friday 4 August (between 7.30am and 5.30pm), please access the site through the Main or North Entrances to reduce risk of delay accessing the site. This includes GP and Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) referrals, children with a paediatric yellow card and 111 referrals.
Urgent maternity cases and neonatal transfers will access the hospital through the Emergency Department, unless advised otherwise by your clinical team.
We thank you in advance for your patience.
