During your stay in hospital you will meet a number of different members of staff.  All members of staff wear name badges, but if you are not sure who someone is or what they do, please feel free to ask them to introduce themselves and explain what they do.

If you have any questions about your treatment, please ask a doctor or a nurse.

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with the Trust, from volunteering to attending our public meetings, our Annual General Meeting or our hospital open day which is held every year.

National survey shows patients happy with care at PHU

Date: 19 October 2021

People needing inpatient treatment at QA Hospital last year were happy with the care they received, according to a national survey published today (19 October).

According to the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC’S) 2020 Adult Inpatient Survey, patients scored the organisation:

  • 99 per cent said they were treated with respect and dignity
  • 99 per cent had confidence and trust in the doctors treating them
  • 98 per cent said their room or ward was clean or very clean
  • 92 per cent said there were always or sometimes enough nurses on duty
  • 87 per cent rated their overall experience in hospital as seven out of ten or higher.

The survey, which covers 137 NHS acute trusts in England, asked patients for their experiences of inpatient care during November 2020.

Tina Hetherington, deputy chief nurse at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust, said: “We’re really pleased that inpatients at QA are reporting that we are getting so many aspects of their care and treatment right, despite the operational challenges we faced last winter when this survey was carried out.

“We know listening to our patients and their families and friends is central to making improvements, and we’re committed to acting on their feedback to give them and their loved ones the best possible care.”
