Choose well

There are many different ways to receive medical treatment for your condition whether it is at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham or in your local community.

Sometimes the easiest and quickest way to receive treatment is by going to your nearest Emergency Department, but that may not be the most appropriate course of action. If your condition is not an emergency and you use an alternative service you may reduce the waiting time at the Emergency Department for someone who really needs it.

The NHS in Portsmouth is asking each and every person to Choose well when deciding where is the best place to receive treatment. Choose well is a campaign to encourage patients, the public and NHS staff to be aware of the range of NHS services on their doorstep and use the right service at the right time. NHS services include your GP, a minor injuries unit or a hospital

Some self-care essentials:

  • Paracetamol
