Seasonal Flu Information

Seasonal flu occurs annually, usually in Winter and the NHS provides a free flu vaccination every year to the over 65s and everyone in the following high-risk groups:

  • those with serious heart disease, serious lung disease, like emphysema, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis or asthma and serious kidney or liver disease
  • those with a long-term health problem, like diabetes
  • those with a weakened immune system - eg from chemotherapy, radiotherapy, steroid treatment or HIV/Aids. It is important that people are vaccinated every year to combat the latest version of the virus. If you live in a nursing/care home or similar long-term residential accommodation, you should talk to your nurse or the manager about getting a flu jab.
