Research Pharmacy Service

What do we do?

  • The Research Prescription Service - dispense medication for patients enrolled in clinical trials;

  • We support and advise research teams on storing clinical trial medication in wards;

  • We ensure the set-up of new clinical trials involving medication is successful.

  • We support delivery and recruitment of trials by actively participating in Research.

Our role in research

The PRIME Study - Developing a tool to stratify the risk of medication harm in the elderly

For this study we have:

  • Identified patients and informed suitable patients of the study;

  • Consented patients;

  • Completed study documentation;

  • Conducted telephone interviews with patients 8 weeks after discharge;

  • Supported general study administration.   

Providing pharmacy advice:

  • The team have been involved in advising on inhaler technique and smoking cessation for several respiratory research studies and service evaluation projects.
