Messages for loved ones and keeping in touch

We recognise the impact that a long stay in hospital can have on families and the importance of maintaining strong communication.  Our ward staff are keeping in touch with patients’ next of kin directly and our Voluntary Services team can help pass on personal messages from family and friends.

Our Strategy – Working Together, Improving Together

Our strategy sets out our vision, values, strategic aims and most importantly, how we will deliver against these ambitions for our patients, communities, and people in the future.

It is not just a document, it is for and about everyone at PHU, building on what we have achieved with a renewed focus on continuous improvement and the need to continue to work together and improve together to achieve our goals.

A full copy of the strategy can be downloaded here.

For more information, please visit our strategy webpage.

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with the Trust, from volunteering to attending our public meetings, our Annual General Meeting or our hospital open day which is held every year.

Mission, Vision, Values and Strategy for Wessex Kidney Centre 2015-20

Our Mission

To deliver excellence in kidney care.

Our Vision

To care for patients with kidney disease and educate patients, relatives/carers and other healthcare professionals in renal disease, improving patients’ health, maximising autonomy, minimising suffering and maximising longevity/quality of life.

Our Values

We will embody the PHT values in everything we do: respect and dignity, quality of care, working together and efficiency.

Our Strategy

We will aim to provide best practice, seeking to emulate from those who perform better, research, innovate and learn from our mistakes.
We will aim to strike the appropriate balance between care close to a patient’s home and centralisation of services for specialisation and economies of scale.
We will aim to provide services in sites which appropriately geographically cover the patient population, minimising patient travel where possible, including new sites where these fulfil these criteria.
We will aim to employ sufficient suitably qualified, trained and supported staff to deliver excellent care, while continually considering alternative ways of working, efficiency, modernisation, alternative roles and technological alternatives.
