Messages for loved ones and keeping in touch

We recognise the impact that a long stay in hospital can have on families and the importance of maintaining strong communication.  Our ward staff are keeping in touch with patients’ next of kin directly and our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) can help pass on personal messages from family and friends.

During your stay in hospital you will meet a number of different members of staff.  All members of staff wear name badges, but if you are not sure who someone is or what they do, please feel free to ask them to introduce themselves and explain what they do.

If you have any questions about your treatment, please ask a doctor or a nurse.

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with the Trust, from volunteering to attending our public meetings, our Annual General Meeting or our hospital open day which is held every year.

Breast Screening Testimonials

We receive on average 95% positive feedback from women who attend our Breast Screening Clinics. These are just some of the comments recently received.....

It was my first experience of breast screening. It was a pleasant experience even though a little uncomfortable. Staff were excellent and it was over really quick. Thank you

Waiting time was short and the procedure was no worse than a blood pressure test (in my opinion)

I was in and out in just over 10 minutes, it was nice and warm

The lady who dealt with me was kind and very efficient. She put me at my ease and was very competent at what she was doing. I am very happy with what she did

All the staff were very pleasant. I didn’t have to wait, I went straight in and I was made to feel at ease. The whole process didn’t take very long at all. I was in and out in no time

I was nervous as first screening. Was put at ease and explained procedure. I will always return as nothing to it. A little discomfort but worth it

Convenience of a mobile unit at a local setting, much more relaxing than a Hospital visit. Staff very friendly and I felt at ease throughout my visit

On this visit and my previous appointments I found the imaging staff made me feel completely at ease and comfortable. They were very friendly and welcoming as well as being very professional in their approach

The radiographer who undertook my screening was excellent! Reassuring, understanding and kind! It was my first mammogram so it was an unknown experience

An all-round good experience, staff professional and I only waited a couple of minutes before I was called in

Easy to find – fabulous staff, no stress no waiting. Very rapid turnaround from arrival to departure. I think I was leaving the mobile unit at the appointment time I was given and everything had been completed

I had previously found procedure painful. I was fearful but the young technicians were so kind and respectful. Went slowly and gently put me at ease. It was less painful. I was so grateful

The lady that did my screening was very good – explained everything I needed to know put at ease straight away – felt very comfortable with her

My appointment was on time and dealt with efficiently, the lady that did my imaging was very helpful and kind and the imaging was very painless and was told about the results, would get a letter in a few weeks and that’s what happened and I was lucky I was clear. Thank you very much

Was very nervous as was my first time and my mother had died from breast cancer detected by a mammogram visit. Staff were very sensitive to my nervousness and put me at my ease

Attended a routine Mammogram appointment last night, booked conveniently for me after work . Parked easily, walked spotless corridors, greeted by a very friendly and efficient receptionist, waited less than 5 minutes and X-rayed by a professional, kind and considerate radiographer. Home within 30 minutes and a fantastic service all round. Well done QAH
