Changes to how the Blood Taking Services are provided across the Fareham, Gosport and South East Hampshire areas
The way blood taking services are provided across the Fareham and Gosport area is changing to help ensure more patients can have appointments at a convenient time.
From 1st October 2018, if your hospital consultant has asked you to go for a blood test and you live in Fareham, Gosport or South East Hampshire you will no longer be able to have blood taken at your GP practice.
There will be a choice of other clinics available to you, depending on where you live:
Queen Alexandra Hospital: This is a walk-in service Clinic times are Monday-Friday 07:45-16:45.
St Mary’s Hospital, Milton, Portsmouth: This is an appointment only service. Please call 0300 123 6612 to make an appointment. The phone line is open Monday-Friday 07:00-19:00 and Saturday / Sunday 09:00-17:00. Clinic times are Monday-Friday 07:00-14:25.
Fareham Community Hospital: This is an appointment only service.
Please phone 02392 681 755 for an appointment. The phone line is open Monday -Friday 0800- 16:00. Clinic times are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 08:00-12:30
Gosport War Memorial Hospital: This is an appointment only service.
Please phone 02392 681755 for an appointment. The phone line is open Monday -Friday 08:00-16:00. Clinic times are Monday-Wednesday 08:00-14:15 and Friday 08:00-12:00
Petersfield Community Hospital: (this is the South East Hampshire Service.) This is a walk-in service. Clinic times are Monday and Tuesday 07:00-12:00.
If your GP asks to attend for a blood test, you must make an appointment with your GP practice. You will no longer be able to attend a PHT clinic for this.
The domiciliary service, which provides blood taking at home will continue although this will be provided by Solent NHS Trust in the Portsmouth area from 1st October 2018 and by Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust from 1st May 2019.
For patients living in the Portsmouth area, there are no changes to the current phlebotomy provision
