About Us

QA

The Queen Alexandra Hospital site has gone through a major redevelopment to create a modern and 'fit for purpose' hospital, which was completed in 2009.

The Department has always pursued a modernising agenda, promoting team working, role extension and the maximum use of its resources through extended day and weekend working. While demand is ever increasing, modernisation and an emphasis on efficiency have allowed the department to maintain waiting times for examinations.

The Imaging Department has always pursued a modernising agenda. The installation of a picture archiving and communications system has eliminated the need for bulky x-ray films, and all images are now available for viewing at multiple sites around the hospital. This, in conjunction with new voice recognition technology, has improved reporting times for studies considerably.

What the imaging department consist of:-

  • 2 purpose built Interventional Radiology suites, 2 Fluoroscopy, 3 MRI scanners, 3 CT scanners and a PET scanner
  • 6 Digital x-ray rooms in our x-ray and scanning department
  • 2 Digital x-ray rooms in RDCU
  • 2 Digital x-ray rooms in Paediatric department
  • 12 Ultrasound scanning rooms
  • 3 Digital X-ray rooms including dedicated paediatric room in our Emergency Department
  • 6 Digital Theatre Arcadis Varic C-arms, 5 Shimadzu MobileDaRT’s machines
