Dermatology is a branch of medicine concerned with the study of the skin and the diagnosis and management of skin disorders. There are over 4000 different types of skin disorder e.g. the common inflammatory conditions such as eczema and psoriasis and the skin cancers.
The Portsmouth Dermatology Centre is located in a state of the art facility on the St Mary's campus. The philosophy of the unit is to provide a holistic and patient centred approach for each individual and the care they need for their skin condition. We provide an expert consultant led service although patients benefit from a multidisciplinary team approach receiving the most appropriate care to meet their needs.
Services are also provided in Gosport at Gosport War Memorial Hospital, Fareham at Fareham Community Hospital and at Petersfield Community Hospital.
General Dermatology clinics run on a daily basis throughout the week for the management of conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, skin cancer, sun related skin damage and other common conditions.
We run combined clinics with the GU physicians, gynaecologists, oncologists, paediatricians, plastic surgeons, rheumatologists and the renal physicians. We are also in close contact with other clinical departments.
