The Harbour Suite is currently closed to private patients. To ensure our teams continue to provide efficient care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, G5 Ward is now a Respiratory High Care Unit.

Welcome to The Harbour Suite

Established in 2012, The Harbour Suite is a dedicated private patient centre of excellence situated on the 5th floor of the Queen Alexandra Hospital, boasting panoramic skyline views across the historical naval city of Portsmouth.

The Harbour Suite aims to provide the best personalised healthcare available in the market, giving its patients access to world leading specialist services, as well as bringing a breadth of surgical and medical expertise to the South West region and beyond.

The facility is comprised of 14 en-suite rooms, 2 consultation rooms and a treatment room. The unit also has access to imaging and diagnostic facilities as well as a state of the art 24 bed ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Our healthcare and patient experience standards are exceptionally high and it is for that reason that we work only with industry recognised specialists. This helps us to ensure that our patients are given the best and safest treatment available. Private rooms are also available for NHS patients in The Harbour Suite upon enquiry. Our corporate mission is based on one agenda; our commitment to reinvesting the unit’s financial surplus straight back into The Portsmouth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to help improve healthcare for all of our patients across the NHS. These investments focus upon improving our patients’ experiences at Queen Alexandra Hospital. This is delivered through ongoing investment into the latest medical technology and facilities, as well as innovative treatments and the development of trust staff.

International patients can access private care at The Harbour Suite through multiple avenues. We accept patients who have their treatment by self-funding, employer/embassy sponsorship or medical insurance providers.

Our team are here to assist you throughout our journey, from start to finish. They’ll be able to provide you with guidance throughout your time with us and can help you to find the right consultant, book appointments and they can even provide recommendations on local tourism activities and destinations during your stay with us.

Specialist Consultations We’re extremely fortunate and proud to deliver a wide range of private healthcare services in collaboration with a pool of highly skilled experts within the private healthcare specialists.

We have a large directory of consultants offering private healthcare at The Harbour Suite and data is now also available to help our patients make informed decisions when choosing a surgeon and our team of private patient service coordinators can point you in the direction of the perfect consultant specialist for your care at The Harbour Suite.

The Harbour Suites’ quality and safety standards are governed and monitored by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We also report to the Private Hospitals Information Network (PHIN), PHIN is a not-for-profit organisation that exists to improve data quality and transparency in the industry. The Harbour Suite also has its own independent Medical Advisory Committee that is overseen by the Trusts Medical Director, ensuring NHS commitments are prioritised whilst promoting and ensuring private patient safety, clinical efficiency and experience are optimised.

Diagnostic Studies As a multi-disciplinary private patient centre we’re extremely proud to deliver pioneering healthcare services to patients across all age groups, through our team of highly experienced consultant specialists. With our state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities we’re able to ensure accurate diagnosis, to ensure that our patients are place on the best treatment pathways possible. We’re offering our patients some of the world’s most sophisticated diagnostic and treatment modalities. We can provide our patients fast access to a comprehensive range of both inpatient and outpatient investigative procedures in an efficient, comfortable and stress-free environment.

Our imaging resources allow us to deliver diagnostic services and treatments to private patients without compromising NHS demand, whilst supporting improvements to Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. Our team of specialist healthcare professionals can assist private patients through our “one stop” clinic service. Our diagnostic services teams work around the clock to deliver fast and reliable results for our patients and with fast track reporting, our patients can examined and diagnosed in as little as 24 hours.

We regularly upgrade our software and equipment in order to ensure we’re best placed to offer patients the best and most accurate diagnostic examinations available in the industry. These range from specialist invasive and non-invasive to general diagnostic modalities such as Pathology & Histopathology, CT, MRI, X-ray, Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine.

Nuclear Medicine is predominantly used for oncology diagnostics, assessing gut transit, investigating joint infections and endocrine functions. We’ve combined state of the art technology and facilities with premium radiology expertise to deliver an industry recognised radiology reporting service. We use an industry recognised picture archiving and communication system (PACS) to ensure the viewing and reporting quality of clinical images isn’t compromised. Our system also grants our consultant radiologists and referring clinician’s immediate and remote access to diagnostic images and reports.

We understand that tests are often unforeseen and can be clinically urgent, therefore we provide a 24 hour emergency radiologist supported imaging service. Covering key imaging modalities such as X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, to all our inpatients.

Amenity Rooms Private rooms are also available for NHS patients on The Harbour Suite from £250 per night. As an NHS amenity patient on The Harbour Suite you can expect private rooms with an unparalleled nursing experience.
