A large Care Group within Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, which is clinically led by Dr Kate Hardy, Care Group Director and Ruth Davies, Senior Lead Nurse.
The Care Group is responsible for the Care of Acute Medicine for Older Persons, Stroke and Neurological Rehabilitation. It hosts 211 beds at the Queen Alexandra site, and the Consultant Geriatrician workforce provide cover for community clinics across Portsmouth and Hampshire, including Rapid Access Clinics, Falls and Parkinson’s clinics, and consultant clinical input to community bedded units. The Care Group hosts the End of Life team for QA Hospital, and has a specialist team for Dementia Care.
MOPRS runs the Portsmouth Enablement Centre, at St. Mary’s Hospital site, for people with long term physical disability and rehabilitation needs, and includes a comprehensive orthotics and prosthetics service.
The Stroke Service at PHT includes a 34 bedded Acute Stroke Unit, with Hyper-Acute facility, and a 26 bedded Rehabilitation ward. We also host a Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team, who provide Early Supported Discharge for Patients post Stroke, and on-going rehabilitation and support at home.
The Neuro- Rehabilitation Service provides a specialist MDT approach for patients post traumatic brain injury, and managed the hyper-acute, acute and rehabilitation phases of their recovery.
