All media enquiries should be directed to the Communications Team. Please email communications@porthosp.nhs.uk or call 02392 286712.
We aim to work with the media positively and proactively and to respond to all media enquiries in a timely manner. On rare occasions where the enquiry is of a highly sensitive or complex nature this might take slightly longer.
Patient confidentiality is our absolute priority and therefore we are unable to disclose any information about a patient unless we are given permission from the individual. We are also unable to share information about a patient’s treatment, care or diagnosis.
Interviews, filming or photography is prohibited on or around Trust sites unless prior permission is obtained from the Communications Team. A member of the Communications Team will accompany any journalist, photographer or camera crew at all times while on site.
To obtain permission for interviews, filming or photography or to arrange an interview with Trust staff, please contact the Communications Team who will be happy to help.
Staff are not authorised to individually represent the Hospitals Trust in the media. If staff are contacted directly by media it is our Trust policy that they must refer the journalist to the Communications Team in the first instance.
All media visits to Queen Alexandra Hospital, and our off-site locations, must be authorised in advance through the Communications Team. The privacy, dignity and security of our patients is our primary concern.
We welcome filming requests and a multi-disciplinary team will consider each proposal on an individual basis and within operational capacity.
We are legally obliged to ask permission of patients to discuss their individual circumstances. In the event of a media enquiry regarding a patient complaint about their clinical treatment, or about other hospital services, we must check that the individual or their next of kin is happy for us to talk to the media. Legally, we must confirm that a patient is willing to have information about their care shared publicly.
The Communications Team covers all internal, external media and stakeholder communications and engagement.
