Thanks to a generous donation from The League of Friends, QA’s Surgery School is now able to purchase tote bags for patients.
Launched last year, Surgery School gives patients undergoing major surgery the opportunity to learn about the importance of Healthy Living before surgery and how they can be actively involved in their own recovery. The aim of the educational sessions is to reduce perioperative complications and length of stay in hospital by improving health and knowledge before surgery.
Charly Bellis, Acute Pain Sister, said: “We would like to say thank you to the League of Friends for their donation. Being able to purchase tote bags means patients can now take home their incentive Spirometer, pedometer, booklet, DVD and any leaflets and then bring them all back again when they are admitted for surgery. This is an added extra to ease the patient’s hospital experience, which is the aim of Surgery School.”
