At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust we are extremely fortunate and very proud to have a highly skilled range of experts with specialist skills. Many of our consultants are delighted to offer patients the option to have private care at the Trust. At the Trust private practise is overseen by the Medical Director to ensure that private practise does not conflict with NHS commitments.

There is new data available to help people make a choice about the surgeons - Speaking about the publication of outcomes for surgeons at QA, Simon Holmes, Medical Director at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, said: “As a Trust we welcome this move by the NHS towards even greater transparency. - Performance data for surgeons at Queen Alexandra Hospital has been released by the NHS in a move towards greater transparency.

Using the MyNHS website, which launched yesterday, patients can search for information including mortality rates for individual specialists. NHS England has released outcomes for nearly 5,000 surgeons across the country. Click the link to find out more Surgeon Performance data

We are currently developing a directory of consultants that offer private practise at Portsmouth Hospitals Website to help you find a consultant that offers the treatments that you are looking for. Your GP will be able to help you to be referred to a consultant of your choice.

 The team in the Private Patient Office can advise if the consultant of your choice offers private patient care and treatment at the Trust.

 

The Medical Advisory Committee (MAC)

Our consultants who offer private practise at the Trust are members of the Portsmouth Hospitals Medical Society and their practise is approved by a Medical Advisory Committee set up to ensure that clinical care and outcomes meet the highest of standards and the quality of your care meets your expectation.

Our co chairmen are: Gareth Harper and Shaw Somers. Our consultants who offer private practise have appropriate indemnity insurance. Regular MAC meetings include the review of clinical outcomes, complaints and quality of care.
