Seasonal Flu Information
Seasonal flu occurs annually, usually in Winter and the NHS provides a free flu vaccination every year to the over 65s and everyone in the following high-risk groups:
those with serious heart disease, serious lung disease, like emphysema, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis or asthma and serious kidney or liver disease
those with a long-term health problem, like diabetes
those with a weakened immune system - eg from chemotherapy, radiotherapy, steroid treatment or HIV/Aids
It is important that people are vaccinated every year to combat the latest version of the virus. If you live in a nursing/care home or similar long-term residential accommodation, you should talk to your nurse or the manager about getting a flu jab.

At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, patients are given opportunities to take part in clinical trials, in fact when asked, over 90% of patients believe that others should be offered a clinical trial. They are a vital part of learning more about both health and illness, and aim towards making progress for the future.

No cause for concern Fire Service exercise at Queen Alexandra Hospital on Tuesday 22 May
Staff at Queen Alexandra Hospital would like to make members of the public aware that a Hampshire Fire and Rescue service mass decontamination unit will attend our site for an exercise due to take place on Tuesday 22 May. There will be no live “casualties.”
