If you and your GP decide that you need to see a specialist for further treatment, you can now choose where to have your treatment from a list of hospitals or clinics. Your GP will discuss with you the appropriate options for treating your medical condition.
These options could be NHS trusts, foundation trusts, treatment centres, private hospitals or practitioners with a special interest operating within primary care.
As well as choosing where to go, you will be able to choose when to go, through the national Choose and Book system.
Choose and Book is a national service that combines electronic booking and a choice of date, time and provider for a first outpatient appointment. Choose and Book is part of the national programme for IT and removes the wait from visiting the GP and receiving an appointment from the hospital.
Your GP or a member of the practice team will give you an appointment request letter and a security password. The letter will show your appointment reference number and contact details for the hospitals and clinics available for you to choose from.
You can now book your appointment at Portsmouth Hospitals through the internet. Please follow the link to book your appointment https://www.ebs.ncrs.nhs.uk/app-cabpatient/prepareLogin.do. To book your appointment, you will be required to enter you booking reference number, year of birth and your password your GP should have given you. When you have given these details you can book your appointment, change your appointment, or look at the status of your booking.
Alternatively, you may wish to contact the Appointments Line to book your appointment. Staff at the appointments line will ask for your booking reference number and password. You can contact the appointments line at the following times:
