New hospital gets Royal seal of approval

Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust was delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal on Wednesday 21 October 2009 to officially open the new Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham.

The Princess Royal was taken to the Paediatric and Critical Care departments where she met staff and patients and got to see the world-class medical facilities that are available to the people of Portsmouth and beyond.

Her Royal Highness was escorted around Queen Alexandra Hospital by Ursula Ward, Chief Executive of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, before unveiling a commemorative plaque in the hospital’s Education Centre in front of hospital staff and distinguished guests.
