Welcome to the new Queen Alexandra hospital

Award winning infection prevention and control.

Over the past three years Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust has reduced hospital acquired infections.

The new Queen Alexandra Hospital has been designed with infection prevention and control as a priority.

A third of beds in the newly built part of the hospital are in single-bed rooms with en-suite facilities and the remaining beds are in four-bed rooms with their own shower room.

Infection Prevention

Each room has fewer beds and the space between each bed is 10% bigger than the current standards. This ensures that rooms are easier to clean and provides segregation if needed. For more details about how the Trust reduces infection rates click here.
