The Philosophy of the Department of Genito-Urinary Medicine is to provide a confidential non-judgemental service that enables patients to make informed choices on matters relating to their sexual health; including, sexually transmitted infections, sexually associated conditions and HIV disease.
The Department will provide diagnosis, treatment, counselling and sexual health advice for all patients.
The staff believe a holistic approach to care that encompasses the patients psychological, social and physical needs is essential in the provision of a high quality service where patients views are valued.
Effective communication will be established both within the multidisciplinary team and with patients.
The staff within the department are committed to nursing and medical education and training. They will endeavour to create a positive learning environment to ensure the highest quality of service to patients.
Patients records will be maintained confidentially within the department and external diagnostic services and support will be accessed where necessary.
