Simon Hodkinson, Les Cannon, Irwin Lasrado and Billy Jowett make up the foot and ankle unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital. It is one of the largest foot and ankle units in the country comprising three fellowship trained surgeons, the other being one of the first to take on foot and ankle surgery as a sub-speciality interest in the United Kingdom.

They run out patient clinics for the assessment of patients with all foot and ankle problems ranging from the straight forward to the complex. The clinics include a tertiary referral clinic for complex foot and ankle problems to enable a combined opinion for patients from Queen Alexandra, St. Richard’s (Chichester), Royal Hampshire (Winchester), Basingstoke and Royal Bournemouth Hospitals. Following assessment in these clinics they are then either referred on for orthotic insoles or physiotherapy when appropriate or listed for surgery which they undertake themselves.

They also manage the complex foot and ankle trauma cases and run a dedicated foot and ankle trauma operating list for these.
