Car parking rates

From Monday 2 April 2012, Carillion, who manage the Trust's car parks, will increase the car parking charges at Queen Alexandra Hospital by about 3.7%. Please see table below.

While the Trust recognises Carillion's contractual right to increase car parking charges in line with the Retail Price Index, we are very disappointed that these increased charges are to be introduced.

There are now 880 car parking spaces for patients and visitors on the Queen Alexandra Hospital site. These are situated in the mutli-storey car park near to the Main Entrance, the North Car Park and by the East Entrance. The mutli-storey car park and the North Car Park are both accessible via Pasteur Road off Southampton Road (A27). The car parking spaces near the East Entrance are accessible via Southwick Hill Road.

Car parking charges exist at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The following rates are current at the time of publishing this page but are subject to change.

Patients and visitors using either the Main or North car parks on the Queen Alexandra Hospital site are entitled to 15 minutes free parking on arrival. After this time the above car parking rates apply.

Most outpatient appointments, excluding Cardiology, Maternity and Paediatrics, can be accessed via the North Entrance and therefore the North Car Park is the most appropriate place to park

There are 104 disabled parking spaces at Queen Alexandra Hospital situated in the multi-storey car park near the Main Entrance and by the North Entrance, Emergency Department and East Entrance.  All vehicles displaying a disabled sticker will only have to pay £1.60 per day.

Patients and visitors can receive a reduced parking rate if they are attending the hospital or visiting relatives for a long period of time. Under the Controlling Parking Policy patients or visitors who are at the hospital for a stay of more than seven days or continuous clinical treatment requiring seven or more visits to Queen Alexandra Hospital can receive a discount and will have to pay £1.60 per day. However it is at the discretion of the ward sister or nurse in charge to issue the reduced rate.

Patients, and/or visitors, should ask the ward sister or nurse in charge, if they should wish to take advantage of this reduced rate. This concessionary rate is courtesy of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust who pay the full amount of the subsidy to Carillion plc.

Please note: Members of the public will only be able to gain access to Queen Alexandra Hospital via the East Entrance from 7am until 7pm.

From 7pm until 7am the main point of access to the hospital will be at the Main Entrance near the multi-storey car park.
