Orthodontic treatment involves correction of malaligned teeth, treatment of hypodontia cases, correction of skeletal discrepancies and other facial deformities such as cleft lip and palate.

Restorative dentistry is a specialty which encompasses the following dental disciplines: operative dentistry which involves the repair and restoration of teeth; periodontology which is the prevention and treatment of gum disease; endodontics which includes root canal treatment and matters to do with the nerves of the teeth; and prosthodontics which is the replacement of teeth.
