FORT stands for Friends Of Oncology And Radiotherapy. We are a small local, Registered Charity, working with Oncology Departments in the region, based at QA Hospital, Portsmouth.
In the past, FORT Cancer Charity has refurbished a Cancer Ward, funded a new Day Care Centre and purchased large pieces of equipment for treatment. This year, we are raising funds for a Papillon 50 machine. This machine treats Rectal Cancer, and allows the patient to live without a colostomy bag. It costs £130,000. The Papillon 50 will be installed into QA Hospital, so that patients from all over the South can be treated, without having to travel to Liverpool, where the UKs only other Papillon 50 machine happens to be.
FORT Cancer has a list of Events happening this year, please find them below. FORT would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the Community who has helped us raise funds, through their dedicated garden parties, sponsored activities, collections, private events and donations. It is all very much appreciated.
If you would like to do something adventurous, we can organise sponsored skydives, abseiling, cycle rides, horse riding, and not necessarily in this country. We also have places for The Great South Run for Oct 24th 2010.
If you would like to join our merry band of volunteers, or would just like to find out more about us, please call the numbers below.

Long gone are the days when being in a clinical trial sparked fear. At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, patients are given opportunities to take part in clinical trials, in fact when asked, over 90% of patients believe that others should be offered a clinical trial. They are a vital part of learning more about both health and illness, and aim towards making progress for the future.
