The event, organised by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust and its Council of Governors, gave an insight into areas of the hospital’s services and departments.
Behind-the-scenes tours of key departments including Cardiology, Pathology, Day Surgery and the Eye Department took place throughout the day and were a firm favourite with visitors.
A range of information stands and activities were also on show throughout the event in the Main Atrium and Education Centre.
It was the third Open Day held by the Trust and more than 300 people attended.
Company Secretary Peter Mellor said: “It was a fantastic success even though we were competing with the exceptional weather over the weekend. The displays and stands have been better than ever, the quality has been very impressive and we are very grateful for the effort that people have put in.
“The Open Day is a great opportunity to show people some of the hard work that goes on within the Trust and we are most grateful to everybody, especially our staff, for the giving of their time and providing such a super day."

Long gone are the days when being in a clinical trial sparked fear. At Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, patients are given opportunities to take part in clinical trials, in fact when asked, over 90% of patients believe that others should be offered a clinical trial. They are a vital part of learning more about both health and illness, and aim towards making progress for the future.
