Equality Monitoring

The aim of Equality Monitoring is to ensure we develop appropriate and equitable service delivery for service users and career development opportunities for staff. We have a legal obligation as a public sector organisation.

In particular, Trusts have to demonstrate their compliance with equality and diversity standards set out by the Healthcare Commission.

We will produce information annually for our trust board about all the Diversity strands (age, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or belief).

Each year we will produce a report telling people of the progress we have made. This will include workforce monitoring statistics and analysis as outlined in our action plan as required as part of our specific duties. We will make sure our yearly progress report is available online and in other formats upon request.

We have identified within our workforce monitoring that BME staff within bands 6-9 are not representative of the total organisation. We have established a development programme targeted specifically at this group to try to address this. We have also identified that a very low number of applicants with a disability are recruited into the organisation. We will take action to look at our processes to make improvements.

We will publish the results of our Equality Impact Assessments, who we are working with and any action plans or improvements we will be making. We will review all our Equality and Human Rights progress within South Central region and in our role as a Positively Diverse Lead site. This will make sure we share best practice in all our equality work.
