We have been looking back through our staff magazine archives and found these great pictures of the Pompey football team Portsmouth Football Club back in 2009, when they were in the Premiership.

More than 15 players from Portsmouth Football Club came in to our Paediatric Department at QA (in December 2009) to say merry Christmas to patients, families and staff.

Players including David James, Jamie O’Hara and Jamie Ashdown spent more than two hours handing out presents and signing autographs. The club’s mascot, Nelson, also visited the wards and brought smiles to the faces of all the children aged from 4 months to 15 years.

David James, (then) Pompey and England goalkeeper said at the time ‘It’s important for the club that we represent ourselves in the community and if we can bring a bit of joy to the wards, then that’s great’

Were you there? Do you have a memory of Christmas at QA and the some of the visits from our Footballers and Panto stars in years gone by?
