QA hosts fun educational day for students
17 July 2017

Over the past three years Queen Alexandra Hospital has opened its doors to nearly 100 students aged between 15 - 17 years, and last week we gave them the chance to learn more about what a career in medicine could be like.

The day started with different educational workstations, this included practice keyhole surgery using actual instruments, how to hold a needle and stitch safely, learn how to resuscitate a person, learn how to interpret x-rays and CTs like a radiologist.

The students also enjoyed a discussion and presentation regarding Sepsis – how bugs kill and how to stop them.

Alongside this learning, students were able to speak to medical students and junior doctors to get a real insight into what life is like when training and working in the medical profession.
