QA Hospital and our CEO Mark Cubbon will be launching our new volunteer team “Happy to Chat” with afternoon tea in our Main Entrance on Friday 24 November 2017 at 2:30 pm.
The “Happy to Chat” volunteer team has been developed to help family carers who look after a relative or friend, who without that support would not be able to cope at home. The volunteers will help carers understand who and what is out there to help them in their caring role and will be able to signpost them to services.
The team will also be available to support patients who may feel isolated or lonely in the hospital. Some patients have told us that while the hospital is always busy, sometimes a bit of “me" time--where they can talk about what interests them in their everyday life outside of the hospital--would go a long way to helping them feel better about their stay. We have used the principles of the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness Campaign to help guide us and want to thank them for supporting us in this exciting new initiative.
