Portsmouth Hospitals develops new course to help unregistered healthcare staff
20 April 2017

Following on from the success of the internationally recognised ALERT course in 1999, Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust developed a course to help unregistered healthcare staff achieve similar skills and knowledge in the recognition and escalation of deteriorating patients knows as the BEACH (Bedside Emergency, Assessment Course for Healthcare Staff) course.

The BEACH course is delivered to PHT unregistered support staff and is playing a part in improving the care provided to our patients.

The BEACH Course is delivered nationwide, generating valued income which is invested in patient care here at Queen Alexandra Hospital. The BEACH Course is easily adapted for use in multiple health care environments, including care homes, and there are plans to offer this training to external organisations in the near future. generating valued income which is invested to support NHS patient care here in QA.generating valued income which is invested to support NHS patient care here in QA.
