SeHCAT Bile Acid Malabsorption Measurements
75
Diarrhoea clinically suggestive of intestinal malabsorption
Diagnosis of idiopathic malabsorption and evaluation of irritable bowel syndrome
Post-surgical malabsorption (ileal resection, vagotomy or cholecystectomy)
SeHCAT behaves in a similar manner to bile acid in the body, and the small amount of radioactivity contained in the product allows the excretion of the material to be monitored using a gamma camera. Nuclear Medicine Physics staff administer the SeHCAT capsule and perform patient imaging.
