Radionuclide Therapy

The Nuclear Medicine Physics section provides support to Nuclear Medicine and Oncology therapy clinics, including radiation protection duties. The following therapies are performed in collaboration with these departments:

Radioiodine (iodine-131) for thyroid cancer and thyrotoxicosis

Yttrium-90 for treatment of certain arthritic joints

Strontium-89 for relief of bone pain in patients suffering from prostate cancer

Phosphorus-32 for treatment of polycythaemia
