HCSW
Portsmouth Hospitals provide and support a range of programmes for Health Care Support Workers and other nursing support staff and these are guided by the Learning before Registration Framework.
A minimum skill set was developed for all HCSW’s to standardise the role and define the new responsibilities required.
The framework sets out the Trust’s expectations for safe and effective practice, in other words the skills, knowledge and ability that you need to provide care to your patients/clients.

Appraisal and personal development review (APDR) is everybody’s responsibility and should be a constant and ongoing process throughout the year. A critical part of the appraisal process is KSF and it should be used to inform the review by providing a clear framework of the knowledge and skills required for a post.
