Young Persons Clinic (Diabetes):

 

Diabetes Outpatients

According to Standard 6 of the National Services Framework for diabetes, all young people with diabetes should experience a smooth transition of care from paediatric diabetes to adult diabetes services via a Young persons clinic. In keeping with this standard, Portsmouth and Gosport Peninsula have a young persons clinic for diabetes.

Typically the youngest patient are aged over 14 years while the oldest approximately 20 years - though there is no fixed age barrier to entering this clinic.

The Portsmouth Young Persons team are:

  • Dr Partha Kar: Adult Consultant Endocrinologist
  • Dr Joanna Walker: Paediatric Consultant Endocrinologist
  • Lisa Skinner: Adult Nurse Specialist
  • Anita Thynne: Adult Nurse Specialist
  • Carol Newman: Paediatric Nurse Specialist
  • Jeanette Head: Adult Dietitian
  • Claire Griffith: Paediatric Dietitian

This clinic takes place between 3pm- 6pm on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Diabetes Centre, Queen Alexandra Hospital.

The Gosport Young Persons team consists of:
  • Dr Lorraine Albon: Adult Consultant Endocrinologist
  • Dr Joanna Walker: Paediatric Consultant Endocrinologist
  • Lisa Skinner: Adult Nurse Specialist
  • Vicky MacLellan: Paediatric Nurse Specialist
  • Clare Griffith: Paediatric Dietitian
This clinic takes place between 9am - 12noon on the third Thursdays of January, May and September at Gosport War Memorial Hospital Outpatients department.
