Jane joined the diabetes team  in 1988 providing a retinal screening service for patients attending the diabetes centre.   

Jane's role within the diabetes department includes: 

~ Grading all the positive and 10% of all normal images taken by Care UK in the routine screening Retinal Screening programme.

~ Referring on to the eye department for further assessment of any images which require further investigation or treatment.

~ Seeing patients within a  intermediary specialised clinic, which is held within the Diabetes centre. This is for patients who don’t actually require a referral to the eye department but require closer monitoring of their diabetic retinopathy.

She has also recently completed all nine units in the City & Guilds certificate in Diabetic Retinopathy Screening making her an accredited screener/grader.
