Welcome to the website of the Portsmouth Specialist Diabetes Care team based at the Academic Department of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Queen Alexandra Hospital.
In the last few years there have been considerable changes in many aspects of diabetes care.
These include:

Changes in the delivery of diabetes care.

Newer treatments and technologies used to treat diabetes.

Keeping pace with national guidelines such as NSF, Diabetes UK, NICE technology reports etc.
As part of Trust policy, we see all newly referred patients within 6 weeks, while all acutely unwell patients are seen within 24 hours. Any urgent referrals to the Diabetes and Endocrine centre are seen to within 24-48 hours.
As our department title suggests, we are equally dedicated to providing a high quality endocrine service and in the last few years, have developed a number of more specialist endocrine services.

Burning desire to help or just being human
Firefighters Stuart Vince and Phil Jackson will be running 11 marathons starting on Sunday 20 May 2012, from the main entrance of Queen Alexandra Hospital to Land's End, before rowing back along the south coast to Gunwharf Quays,Portsmouth - all within 20 days.
