Breast Screening Performance
The Breast Screening Programme is subject to close scrutiny and has high standards set upon it. There are Quality Assurance Reference Centers (QUARC) throughout the country that closely monitor the units in their region and ensure the rigorous quality assurance standards are maintained. Our QUARC is in Oxford and we are part of the South Central Region.
There are three main standards that the units are measured on. .

ISO9000
In May 2002 the Breast Screening Service were proud to become registered to ISO9000:2000. This is the International Standard for Quality Management which means that the service works very hard to provide an efficient service to the women of Portsmouth and the surrounding areas. We are subject to inspection visits twice a year by the British Standards Institution and as yet they have not identified any major problems.
